Cheryl Bridges Johns
Professor of Christian Formation and Discipleship
Dr. Cheryl Bridges Johns serves as professor of Christian Formation and Discipleship at the Church of God Theological Seminary. Previously she served as an Instructor at Northwest Bible College and part-time Instructor at Lee College. She was a Garrett Teaching Fellow at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 1997 she was named a Henry Luce III Fellow in Theology by the Association of Theological Schools.
She has published two books and numerous articles in scholarly and professional journals. Dr. Johns is a leading Pentecostal ecumenist serving in the Commission on Faith and Order, the International Roman Catholic-Pentecostal Dialogue, Evangelicals and Catholics Together, Church of God-Mennonite Dialogue and several World Council of Churches initiatives.
Dr. Johns served on the Executive Committee for the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada. She has held many distinguished lectureships, including the Jamison Jones Lectures in Preaching at Duke Divinity School and the Holy Living Lectures at Azusa Pacific University. Her areas of interest include Pentecostal theology and the practices of ministry.
Along with her husband Jackie, she ministers at the New Covenant Church of God, a church they planted in 1989. They have two daughters and two grandchildren. |
