J. Ayodeji Adewuya, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Greek and New Testament

Dr. Adewuya teaches Greek and New Testament at the Seminary, focusing on Pauline Literature and Studies. He is a seasoned preacher, pastor, missionary and church planter. As the first Ondo State Overseer of the Deeper Life Bible Church in Nigeria from 1977-1983, Dr Adewuya was involved in teaching, church planting, evangelism and radio ministry. From 1984-2001, he lived and worked in the Philippines as a missionary and church planter. He also served as adjunct faculty for several years at the Asia Pacific  Nazarene Theological Seminary, and Asia Seminary of Christian Ministries.

Dr. Adewuya is the author of two books: Holiness and Community in 2 Cor. 6:14-7:1 – A Study of Paul’s View of Communal Holiness in the Corinthians Correspondence (New York: Peter Lang, 2001) and Transformed by Grace: Paul’s View of Holiness in Romans 6-8 (Eugene Oregon: Cascade Books, 2004). In addition to presenting scholarly papers in  conferences, he has also published  articles in various academic journals and written essay chapters in books. He is a regular contributor to Precepts for Living, a Sunday School Commentary for African Americans published by Urban Ministries Inc., Chicago. He also contributes lessons to Evangelical Sunday School Commentaries of the Church of God Cleveland, Tennessee. His passion is to see holiness taught and practiced in the community, recognizing that there is a call to the church to be holy. He is an active member of the Society of Pentecostal Studies, Wesleyan Theological Society, and Society of Biblical Literature. He is married to Grace and they have four children, Toluwalope (Praise belongs to the Lord), Iyanuloluwa (the Lord is wonderful), Ruth, and Jonathan.
