Disaster Response Team

The COGTS Disaster Response Team (DRT) consists of quick response teams to provide physical assistance and emotional/spiritual guidance in emergency situations. It consists of faculty, staff, and students who have undergone specialized training from the Chaplains Commission Staff. Participants are selected from a volunteer pool, trained in stress management, undergo disaster debriefing, and receive emergency assistance training. They receive one (1) hour graduate credit for participation in disaster Care Ministry. The DRT is under supervision of a Seminary committee that works closely with People for Care and Learning directed by Dr. Fred Garmon. Members of the Seminary Committee are: Dr. Herbert Frazier, Anthony Lombard, and Weldon Wriston.

For information and participation, contact anyone on the DRT committee (423/478-1131 or 800/228-9126) or email hfrazier@cogts.edu.
